Team for Villa.
It's back down to earth with a bump, as we get a serious footballing lesson from Liverpool. Sadly my prediction that we wouldn't let them walk all over us turned out to be wide of the mark, which was very disappointing. It can't just be that Liverpool were brilliant. I can't help feeling that if we had played with the same spirit that we saw at Palace we would have made a contest out of it. Anyway, let's hope we can put this behind us and reproduce something like the form we showed at Palace.

Despite the poor performance, I don't expect Moyes to change the side for this one. I would be surprised if Lingard starts, but if he does I would expect it to be in place of Fornals, who had a particularly poor game yesterday. But Lingard will probably make his debut from the bench at some stage.

Fabianski
Coufal Dawson Ogbonna Cresswell
Bowen Rice Soucek Fornals
Benrahma
Antonio

Subs: Martin, Fredericks, Johnson, Balbuena, Noble, Lanzini, Lingard, Yarmolenko, Odubeko.

Villa's gonna be tough and I think I'd take a point now if offered. Think the team will be the same.

How many subs can be named nowadays?

The team will be the same.

Lingard is not fit enough to start and we have no one else to improve it.

Villa were unlucky at Burnley and lucky at Southampton.

They have a few good players but stop Grealish and we will win (if we turn up).

I have faith in Coufal to stop Grealish.

Same team. It must be close to or best team. The problem wasn't the team or the formation. It was the frightened, passive way we played.

Hopefully we've learned something from the last time we played them as they completely dominated us despite the result telling otherwise

Same again even in the unlikely event that we sign a striker today who would probably be signed too late to play.

I would never pick Yarma to start.

Technique is ok but lack of mobility let’s him down and I question his attitude as well.

The same side. Makes no sense to change it off the back one poor result.

As yesterday but start as we did at Palace and not yesterday.

Surprised Grealish is starting, he collapses on the ground rolling and groaning so often I can't believe he doesn't get injured. Hopefully we have a decent ref!

Same side, just with a game plan to actually win the game rather than surrender immediately.

Is there any point to these threads?

We don’t have a squad to have a real choice in the starting XI.

So it’ll be as you stated and just more set pieces won

Liverpool ran us ragged, a few players might be struggling a bit, wouldn't be surprised at all to see some bench players starting, Balbuena, Fredericks, Lanzini, Yarmolenko, Noble, Lingard all candidates

I'd be tempted to drop Bowen if we had anyone decent to replace him.

Same team for me aside from one change. Fredericks in for Benhrama. I'd play Fredericks as a right forward, Bowen on the left and Fornals behind Antonio.

I'd be tempted to put Antonio on the right .and rest Bowen he's knackered and needs a break and put obedeku up front . Other than that keep it the same.
